RIC Around the World

Our Monday Motivation this week is RIC Around the world. Here at Rochester Independent College we are fundraising for Young Minds. We are challenging ourselves to travel the circumference of the Earth which is a whopping 24,901 miles!

All students and Staff will be partaking by running, jogging, walking, cycling and even skateboarding as far as they can to help us travel around the world! This includes our boarding students who are based in many countries around the world from Latvia to Japan.

We chose Young Minds as we are focusing a lot on Mental Health and Well-being during the very difficult times we find ourselves in. Taking care of your Mental Health is very important and the resources available through Young Minds for young people and their families are so valuable. Please help us in supporting this organisation so close to our students hearts.

Stay tuned for updates as we go along!

Children In Need

This week the students have been busy raising money for Children in Need. Earlier this week a group of students hosted a cake sale where they sold lots of delicious cakes and biscuits, to kick off their fundraising week.

On Wednesday afternoon year 7-10 set off on their sponsored walk; walking as far as they could in the two hours- successfully managing to get to Chatham Dockside and back to College just before the end of the day! Finally, to bring the week to an end, it was ‘Dress out of the Ordinary’ Friday; allowing anyone to wear whatever wacky clothes they desired!

Through all of the fun events we managed to raise £500.51 (we are still waiting for a couple of other donations to come in)- thank you to everyone who helped us raise this money!

European Language Day

RIC celebrated The European Day of Languages where teachers and students cooperated to produce material that was later used to decorate the school, in the presentation for the assembly and cakes for the cake sale.
