Virgin London Marathon

Neal Layton is raising a small but important amount for the NSPCC.

A few years ago Neal Layton and two others started by running a couple of 10K’s, they progressed to ultras (London to Brighton and Thames Path 100k’s) so Neal now aims to be the last of the original three amigo’s to show that he still has it and do our bit to raise some money!!!

Fast Tomato

As part of the careers offering being headed up by Neal Layton we will be utilising fast Tomato throughout the lower school. Since 2003, Fast Tomato has been one of the most popular online career guidance programmes for young people, helping millions of students explore the many different career opportunities open to them. The system will be introduced in the first term back with the opportunity for all in the lower school to take part.

After a quick sign up, students answer 72 simple questions relating to work which normally takes less than 10 minutes. This produces their individual Career Profile. Starting at Y8 this will help to signpost potential routes of study, and information careers which may be of interest, work styles and work places, helping them appreciate how their unique make-up can fit into the world of employment.

Go Leo!

Leo has shaved his head this summer in support of his Aunt Talita who has been diagnosed with cancer, he may stand out a bit but let’s admit it is for all the right reasons. We all need a little bit of support at times and Leo is showing the type of “community” spirit we should all be proud of at RIC. We salute you Leo and wish you and you family (and Aunt Talita) all of the best!!

Medway Champions

We are pleased to be part of the “Medway Champions” initiative designed to boost the Medway area as a great place to live, work, learn and visit. It also showcases the great businesses we have in the area and RIC will be doing its bit to promote these businesses and Medway in general.

Education & Beyond

There is a new RIC careers website available here designed to signpost all of the options available through you education and beyond. Individual pages of the site look at, not just, degrees but also apprenticeships, interview skills, placements and work experience to name a few. there is an associated @twitter account (@RICCareers) and also an @Feedly blog RIC Careers Interesting Articles. Have a look, let us know what you think!

Stay Safe, Stay Well

You will have seen the branded RIC Hand Sanitiser being distributed this week. This has been sourced and supplied from a local brewery, Copper Rivet Distillery (Chatham) who switched from brewing gin to making sanitiser very early on in the lockdown. A brilliant example of local business initiative and RIC is pleased to support this local enterprise, and look forward to a long and safe working relationship with Stephen and the gang at Copper Rivet.
